about

This album was recorded live at The Milestone in Charlotte, NC.
Jonathan Battleship Hughes was the soundman that night.
Dane Abernathy recorded the show, mixed it and took pictures.

We all went to a pre-show, going away party where I did a solo set to a room full of strangers that ended up becoming friends. That was where we got the free alcohol.

Hectagons, Luciferian Agenda and Hungry Girl all played that night too.

We had a great time and played a fun set to some pretty enthusiastic people. As we were walking out, Dane said, 'Hey, by the way, I recorded your set to tonight.'

I've always thought that those make for the best live albums. You get to hear all of the fuck ups and all of the mistakes, but sometimes, you also get to hear a band just enjoying playing music and having the time of their lives doing it. Personally, I think that came across on this recording. Or maybe we just sound like sloppy drunks. Either way, this show was a blast.

If you've never been to The Milestone, go there now. It might be the best place in the world.

---- Individual song notes ----

'Bleeding' starts about 20 seconds into the song. I had never heard Wilson's backup vocals on it until this recording. He rules.

We wrote 'Dissipate' about 12 years ago. I still love it.

'2 Punx' was the first song that Wilson and I ever played together.....a LOOOOONG time ago. We were young, dumb kids. That's why it's called '2 Punx' instead of 'Two Punks'.

'New Slow Song' still doesn't have a real name. Give me a name for it. I'll try to give you some free shit, but I'll probably forget.

'dinosaur sr' is a stupid name for a song, but that's how it ended up on the set list and that's how it stuck. Todd was worried about his guitar playing on this one...until I pointed out that I unplug my guitar at multiple points during the show and that I fuck up the lyrics to every song that we did. I think he did fine.

'Virginia, Let's Dance'. It's a song. It's alright.

'Before The Darkness Falls' is one of my least favorite songs that I have ever written, but everybody else in the band throws shit at me until we play it.

Wilson and I were in a very short lived band called Drag The Lake. I was going through a serious Alkaline Trio crush at the time. 'Cassandra On Fire' was the result. Wilson sings the choruses and sounds like he will eat your fucking soul. Also, my favorite part on the whole album is at the end of this track. Jarad is introducing 'Generator' and says, 'we're going to fuck this one up...just for you.' and you hear Jonathan yell 'Thank you!' Cracks my shit up every time.

I hope Bad Religion doesn't sue us, but I wouldn't blame them for destroying 'Generator'. Jarad sings on it.

I think 'Gas City Blues' is the best song that I will ever write. If you listen at the very end, you can hear some guy say 'Hey...can I give you a hug' to Jarad. He REALLY liked our cover of 'Generator'.

--- Thank you's ---
Jonathan 'motherfucking dance party' Hughes, Dane Abernathy, Buck Boswell, Randy Hughes, Andy The Doorbum, MaryMo Sharp (I don't actually know what you go by and at this point, I'm too embarrassed to ask), Kyle Perkins, The Milestone, everybody in Luciferian Agenda, Hectagons, and Hungry Girl, and all of our amazing friends in Charlotte. You are some of the best people that I have ever had the fortune to meet.
